This coming Saturday is the inaguaral, Illinois Smallmouth Alliance fly fishing show. It is just a one-day show and will be held in Bensenville, IL at St. Charles Borromeo church. I will be attending and will have a table set up with my guiding information along with flies to view and buy. In addition, many (including myself) anglers will be tying flies right at the show.
Looks to be a strong line-up of booth vendors, speakers, and guides across the Midwest. Here is an ad for the show:

I will be displaying and selling Muskie and Pike flies along with these three flies:
The fly above is a new one called “the wedding crasher”. It is not my design, but Randy Hanner’s. The fly is touted as a great bass and carp fly. I think it is phenomenal looking and began tying it a few weeks ago. I will have many of them to sell and if anyone wants me to show them how to tie it, I will be glad to that also.
The fly above is one you have seen before - Graham’s Ghost. This one is my design and is very effective for me when it comes to catching river bronzebacks.
Last, but certainly not least, is my favorite popper - the blockhead.
I hope to see a few of you at the show. I believe it is the only fly show happening in the state.
AS ALWAYS….......................HAIL TO THE SMALLIE
Wish i could make it.

You have to be kidding me! I’m sitting here in 29 Palms, CA training for Afghanistan, just my luck. Knock em’ dead Jonn, save a few of those Ghosts and Blockheads for me when I get back next November. Got a new one for my bucket list…MAKO’s! Needed a flyfishing fix a few weeks ago and headed to a San Diego fly shop. Got talking to one of their guides about setting up a trip in the near future and he shows me some awesome clips of his clients pounding the Mako’s on a long rod. Can’t imagine hooking into a 7ft 200lb. shark that JUMPS! Insane! I have to do it. Have fun this weekend and I will see you at next years show.
