My worst fears realized

Wed, October 06, 2010

I just read a story in the Springfield State Journal-Register that basically encapsulated my worst fears in terms of being robbed. Here is the staggering news.

Gun, gin taken from home

Someone stole a 12-gauge shotgun, a digital camera and a half-gallon bottle of gin from a home in the 800 block of East Stanford Avenue Monday.

The burglary was discovered just after 7 p.m. The burglar apparently got into the home through a basement window.

Comments

The shotgun—too bad.  The camera—get another.  The gin—that’s the part that ripped your heart out.  It is interesting that this guy travels with the exact same kit that you do.  I assume he had already eaten the Slim Jims.

I really thought the story was about me. So I ran into the house, found the gin and camera, then breathed a sigh of relief. I can always buy another gun.

Alright Jeff, I dare you to go buy another gun!
