Illinois girl hopes to win hunt

Heartland Outdoors readers may remember the fellow pictured above from our July 2011 cover.

Well, his name is Scott Dean and he called today with a request. Could I get out the word about his daughter’s attempt to win a hunting trip from Southern Belle Outdoors?

Emily, 11, is from East Peoria and she writes, “My dad introduced me to hunting when I was six years old.  The first thing he took me hunting for was squirrels.  I was too young to shoot them, but dad let me carry them when he shot them.  Squirrel hunting was a lot of fun and I loved it, so dad introduced me to duck hunting.  After that he took me deer hunting.  I absolutely love deer hunting, and don’t know what I would do without it.  I have a special place in my heart for hunting.  It fills you with excitement and joy and gets your heart pounding.  Although I love hunting, I would like to try to stop over or illegal hunting.  Hunting is a fun activity, but don’t kill too much game or you might not be able to hunt at all, or you could go to jail.  I want to stop this now!”
