Ice fishing tourney off at Evergreen

Tue, January 31, 2012

Mike Steffa wasn’t happy to relay the news.

“I’m calling off the ice fishing tournament,” said Steffa, who runs Evergreen Lake. “I’m kind of bummed about it, but we didn’t have any choice.”

That Feb. 11 tourney was to be the first organized event at Evergreen Lake. And we were happy to help sponsor the tournament.

But a lack of ice has doomed that tournament and many others.

Steffa said ice at Evergreen was pretty much all gone today. The same is true all over.

But plans are to have a tournament at Evergreen Lake next winter.

“It’s got to get cold again one of these years,” Steffa said.

Sad News - My thanks go out to everyone that gave their time to organize this event.  See you all in 2013 (I hope) ...
