How tough are alligator gar?

Thu, October 07, 2010

The state is undergoing a project to attempt to restock alligator gar in Illinois. They are a threatened species in Illinois.

As part of that effort, little alligator gar are being raised in various locations. That includes the rearing ponds at Banner Marsh, where this little rascal bit off more than he could chew.

Jeff,  That is a Lampe Sucker!  Only one other friend from the U.P. of Michigan has fell for these pictures!  I staged this photo.  When I arrived at the pond the doe was dead floating in the water.  I had a dead Alligator Gar from one of the other rearing ponds, so it made a good story/picture!  To many late nights working for you my friend, I got you with this one!
