Friends of Rice Lake news

Thu, October 07, 2010

We had a Friends of Rice Lake board meeting last night and have some good news to report.

For one thing, we now have 501c3 status thanks to the Illinois Conservation Foundation. So all of you out there who were waiting to make your $50,000 donations, you can now get full tax-deduction consideration.

Also, Brad Belser of Bradley Blinds confirmed he is donating a 12-foot goose pit to us for use at Double T State Fish and Wildlife Area. Plans now are to get the pit into the ground in advance of the Oct. 30 waterfowl season opener. We thank Brad for the donation and hope to get a few more pits into the ground to make hunting Double T easier and more comfortable.

Really, that’s the goal of Friends of Rice Lake: “To support, enhance and protect the Rice Lake, Banner Marsh and Double T state fish and wildlife areas.”

OK. You can start writing those big checks.
