After catching a bunch of whites and a couple bass on a pop-r in the first part of the video, I switched to a bladebait called a big dude and hauled in a few more.

Nice video Pete. Never ate White Bass. Is it similar in taste to crappie?

Looks like you had a blast, jumping cats…cool! It’s been several years since the last time I’ve got into the whites like that. The last time was during a large hatch of Hex mayflies(those big yellow ones)in the back waters of the Illinois river,it was early summer, around June.

In a normal year I catch thousands of whites and get into them like this regularly. Not this past season. I expect that 2012 will be more normal and I’ll get back to whackin the whites.
I haven’t eaten whites in a number of years so I can’t say i remember what they taste like. Given the history of the Illinois river I have never been interested in eating them.
