Top 5 Update

Mon, June 27, 2016

Okay, so while the first two submissions weren’t quite “summer” bass by maybe 24 hours, it’s been summer in my world pretty much since school got out.  As far as our third bass for today’s update, it’s our first official summer entry caught by a fellow during an annual solstice fishing adventure (give or take a few days) .

Brice Bass

Weight: 4-2
Angler: Brice Wangler
Date: June 19
Location: Southern IL public water
Lure: Yes
Angler Comments: I like the “Dog Days”

Brice Bass

Weight: 4-2
Angler: Brice Wangler
Date: June 19
Location: Southern IL public water
Lure: Yes
Angler Comments: Indeed another 4-2

Top 5 Weight: 20-0 (4-2,4-2,4-2,3-14,3-12) culls 3-1 and 2-10

Bruce Bass

Weight: 3-12
Angler: Bruce Zilkowski
Date: June 23
Location: Snakeden Hollow
Lure: Bass Pro Shops Stik-O (watermelon red magic)
Angler Comments: I made a cast to the bank with my Bass Pro Shops Stik-O worm (watermelon red magic) and felt a pick-up. Set the hook and it was pretty evident pretty quick that there was a good one on.  After a quick fight she was in the net and then in the boat.  Weighed 3lb 12oz.  That was my big fish for the day and the only one big enough to cull any that I already had.

Top 5 Weight: 15-6 (3-14,3-12,2-13,2-8,2-7) culls 1-15
(Note: Bruce’s fish represents bass #100 for 2016, way to go everyone)

Great to see twelve more pounds of bass join the fun along with a new 2016 entry into the 20-pound club as we transition into another season. Hard to believe we are darn near at the half way point of 2016 but time flies…more so every year.  Talk to you later.  Troy
