Top 5 Update

Mon, April 18, 2016

A couple solid culls puts one of our anglers in sight of a 20-pound limit while his fishing buddy sits one good fish away from the same milestone with only three fish submitted thus far.  Another limit is posted first time out by one of our two-year veterans who has once again joined the pursuit bringing our 2016 angler total to a dozen.  And finally, another angler posts a moral victory of sorts bumping a small fish with one that is only slightly not smaller.  Hey, they all count as long as they weigh more than your lowest contender, right?

Jeff and Luke Bass

Co-angler Comments (provided by Troy): I invited my brother along to take his first shot of the year on the water.  Not only did he outfish me (19 bass to 11) but hauled in a Top 5 on the first try that now exceeds my limit caught over the course of three outings.  Am I surprised? No.  Will I invite him along again? Maybe.
Top 5 Weight: 13-2 (3-15,2-14,2-8,2-3,1-10)

Troy Bass

Weight: 1-9
Angler: Troy Jackson
Date: April 17
Location: Knox County public strip pit
Lure: Booyah Counterstrike Spinnerbait (salt & pepper)
Structure: Reeds
Angler Comments: Going into this day I was confident that I could upgrade my creel based on the stable warm weather and some good water.  I was indeed correct as I managed to up my Top 5 by a whopping four ounces.  But, as this update hits the blog bright and early today I am on my way to the water to try it again (yes, back to back fishing days, lucky me).
Top 5 Weight: 11-8 (5-9,1-11,1-9,1-6,1-5) culls a 1-5

Good stuff and certainly shows that no matter the conditions, cold, wet and windy or warm and stable, the bass don’t go anywhere, you just gotta figure out how to catch ‘em.  Always good to see some more fish join our list whether I am a spectator with a keyboard at my hands or, in the case of yesterday’s outing, a spectator with a rod and reel in my hands.  Keep ‘em coming and good luck to all.  Talk to you later.  Troy
