Pollinator Meeting, Birds & Bees CRP

Wed, December 28, 2016

You’re invited to attend a Free CRP Pollinator workshop!

Tuesday, January 24th

9:00 am till Noon, Lunch Provided

Mason County Farm Bureau   127 S High St., Havana, IL

Quail and Upland Game Alliance (QUGA) is hosting a free CRP pollinator workshop for the counties of Cass, Fulton, Logan, Mason, Menard, Sangamon, Tazewell, and Woodford to offer information on how to establish and protect our pollinators.

Native Bees are valuable crop pollinators. Farming for pollinators and wild bees help increase crop yields and may serve as important insurance when honey bees are hard to come by. The USDA provides financial and technical assistance to support conservation efforts for pollinators and other wildlife on farms.

Your local county Service Center Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCD), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Farm Service Agency (FSA) personnel will be available for information. A free lunch sponsored by Quail and Upland Game Alliance (QUGA) will be provided after the meeting. Please RSVP to the Tazewell County Service Center at 309.346.4462 ext. 3 by January 20, 2017.

Presenters are:

QUGA – Jerry Johnson, Regional Director – Habitat Establishment

NRCS – Kent Macy, NRCS Biologist – Pollinator Benefits

Roundstone Seed – Robert Hoffman, Biologist – Projects & Seed

Trees Forever – Debbie Fluegel – Pollinator Conservation Program

Comments

what is the chances of a meeting in the northern part of the state? Just a note. The time of the meeting could have been at a later time for the working person.

DEER1

Where in the northern part of the state are you referring to?  Help us narrow it down to a specific county at least.  This all started because some one in central Illinois requested a workshop.  There is discussions of one being set up in West Central Illinois.

Thanks for your feedback.
