Let it Snow!

Mon, February 27, 2012

With the seemingly endless parade of snow geese, I couldn’t resist the temptation to try some impressionistic images from within a large group of snows!  Does anyone recall ever seeing this many geese or has all of the habitat restoration along the Illinois River…Emiquon preserve for example…been a contributing factor in the huge numbers!!??

Another Photo Essay of a Giant

I was given premission to post some incredible trail pics of a world class whitetail that I was able to capture this year!  As far as I know he is still alive and well!  Any thoughts on gross score…my guess is knocking on 200 if not right at 200!?

Photo essay…225 inch IL giant

I love nothing more than photographing wildlife…esp. big whitetails!  It doesn’t matter if its my DSLR with a big lens or a small trail camera!  Like most of you, I get very excited when I get to check my trail cameras..almost like Christmas morning all year long!

A good friend had asked if I would do a “census” of the deer on his farm earlier this fall and I jumped at the chance to see what was running around his west central IL property!  What I captured was a lot more than I expected…a true world class whitetal..best of all he’s a real poser for the camera!

Out of respect for his privacy, I must keep his face and the location obscure…we all know what happens when a farm gets TOO much unwanted attention when a deer like this goes down!
