Trapper education course in Morton

A trapper education class will be offered at the Wilmor Sportsman Club in Morton Aug. 27 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

First-time trappers, born on or after January 1, 2015, are required to complete a trapper education course before purchasing a license.

Additionally, any trapper regardless of age, who has not previously held a valid trapping license by this state or another state, with in the last three years preceding application, are required to complete a trapper education course before purchasing a license.

Participants completing the trapper education course receive a Trapper Education Certification card verifying that they have passed the course of instruction.

“This will be an excellent opportunity for trappers who need the course in order to qualify for the trapping license,” Dave Scifres
said. “It can be beneficial for both beginning and advanced trappers.”

The minimum eight hour course includes in instruction in equipment and trapping techniques, wildlife management, reporting requirements, trapper ethics, game identification and regulations.
