The Outdoor Sisterhood

Mon, January 23, 2012

Yesterday I created a firestorm when I posted over on my personal blog, Walkin With the Wild Woman about the proliferation of scantily glad women using suggestive photos to promote themselves and women in the outdoors.

There was lots of discussion floating about Facebook and the blogsphere about my rant. Simply put - I am sick to death of the calendars, apparel lines, ads, etc that use some admittedly gorgeous twenty something in a bikini to promote their products, services, and in many cases the women promoting themselves. My hope is that the majority of the Heartland community feels the same way.

I say it’s high time that women in the outdoors stop this foolishness and promote their knowledge, skills, and life experiences instead.

I feel blessed and extremely lucky to have a circle of “outdoor sisters” who have been there through good times, easy times, scary times, hard times and have taught me so many valuable lessons. Without this circle of accomplished and talented women young and old, I would have never had the courage to try new things, pick up a shot gun and bow after my mastectomy, attempt to train that blockheaded Willie dog, and a myraid of other things. For you my outdoor sisters I am thankful!

This is my salute to all of the women in the outdoors who leave their clothes on and succeed based on their knowledge, skills, and commitment to making the hunting and angling world a better place.

For all the outdoor sisters featured in this slideshow- I’ve enjoyed every minute I’ve spent afield with you and always learned something new. I applaud you for you knowledge, skills, and commitment!

Those are true outdoor sisters!!! I’d rather look at those pic’s than some of those so called outdoor girls in there bikinis, most of them are just so fake.

I can look at women in bikinis anytime I want. If the companies products where that good than they wouldn’t need women in bikinis to promote there product. JMO
