A Call For The Ladies

Fri, February 17, 2012

I don’t know about the other ladies out there, but I’ve always had a devil of a time making a mouth call work. I could never get it seated properly in my mouth, never get it to make a sound that truthfully didn’t sound like a cross between a dying hog and some outer space alien.

I tried trimming calls, bending calls, and truthfully had given up on ever having a mouth call that would work for me.
Then I encountered Lynn Buswell from Blitzkrieg Calls.

Initially what drew me to Lynn was his line of waterfowl calls that don’t require the lung capacity of an undersea diver to ring out and bring those birds in - but I had to whine just a little to him about my troubles with turkey calls as well.  “I’ll fix you right up” he laughed. Lynn explained that probably why I was having such a hard time was because typically regular mouth calls can be too big to seat properly in woman’s smaller mouth. ( Yes I know , goes against everything you fellas think about us doesn’t it? ) He graciously provided me with one of his special ladies calls.

Holy Smokes! It fit just right, and right out of the hat I could make some passable turkey calls. Not great mind you, because I sure need to practice more, but at least I didn’t sound like some dying hog anymore.

Lynn colored them pink,  to appeal to those lady hunters who like pink outdoor equipment, I figure the pink is fine, because it may keep my partners grubby paws off my call!

A strong supporter of encouraging youth and women in the outdoors, Lynn also has a line of youth sized mouth calls as well.

I’m more than happy with my little pink girly turkey call, and especially like my great entry level acrylic duck call from Blitzkrieg as well.
Blitzkrieg’s prices are affordable,  all made in the USA, and best of all Lynn is always willing to spend time talking with you to help you improve your calling. Something of note - Lynn also is one of the few call makers who offers a Sand Hill Crane call.

Blitzkrieg Calls - two thumbs up from this gal - check out his website   or give Blitzkrieg a ring. Lynn will be happy to help you find that call that meets both your needs and your budget.

Now I think I’m going to have to talk to him a little about a predator call…. there’s some pesky yotes out there in the back 40.

Comments

I have kind of a narrow bite with a very high roof in my mouth…I can make most calls work well, but I have the most luck and best sound out of a couple of youth calls I bought years ago…The only problem I see is they are alot easier to choke on…LOL
