I don’t normally post stories about poachers… kind of like when live sporting events refuse to televise idiots running onto the field. But this one was just too over-the-top to ignore.
This is from the Post-Bulletin in Rochester, MN.
By Post-Bulletin staff
The Post-Bulletin, Rochester MNCharges are pending against a 19-year-old Rushford man for allegedly killing and stealing a trophy deer from a deer farm in rural Houston.
During the early hours of Thursday morning, the man allegedly killed the 21-point buck, which was in a pen, with a bow and arrow and then cut through the fence to take it out, according to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office received a report of the stolen deer Thursday, and after an investigation concluded that the Rushford man was the culprit. The Houston and Rushford police departments and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources also were involved in the investigation.
The buck had a green score of 212 Boone and Crockett.
I found this alleged pic of the alleged great hunter.
You have to love the area circled, where he cut out the ear tag for the hero shot. Wonder if he wore the camo and blaze orange on the hunt?
You can fix a lot of things but you just can’t fix stupid.

I am sure if that kid would have just payed the guy $10,000 or so, he could have just went into the pen & shot that guys farm animal legally.
“The buck had a green score of 212 Boone and Crockett.” ????
NOT…that animal would have never been scored by B&C or P&Y, because they don’t score pen raised livestock.

Go easy on the dude- I am sure that he has a valid defense based upon his medical condition. This is a text book case of AIDS…....... Antler Infatuation Dumbass Syndrone. It is not his fault that he caught this highly contagious disease- for which there is no known cure. Only those who were fortunate enough to be vacinated against it by their father, grandfather or mentor are immune. He should be allowed to enter a plea of guilty but mentally ill, he deserves treatment not punishment.

Colonel it is also good to note that a deer doesnt have to be huge for aids to set up. I was waiting on a salvage tag from a game warden for a 140s i found dead on some of our hunting property that is heavily posted. The deer died about 40 yards on our side of the fence but i was pretty sure no one would be able to see the deer but possibly smell it. It was completely bloated and probably dead 10 days when i found it. I could understand if someone beat me back in and cut the rack off but they drug it out and hooked it onto the atv! WHoever it was i bet didnt have a salvage tag and tresspassed. WHy would someone break so many laws over a 140 inch deer?

I have to agree with shootin does, they are smarter and more alert in my book, the does are more atune to what is happening around them, instinct to protect the young ones just my opinion though.
Which makes them more of a challange to put meat on the freezer.

“Only those who were fortunate enough to be vacinated against it by their father, grandfather or mentor are immune”
That is not true.
Sorry but I know a lot of ethical hunters, who are very good & couth deerhunters, despite having to learn how to hunt, all on their own.
Sure having a good mentor always helps, BUT it is not the only way to learn how to be a good hunter, with sound values.
I was lucky enough to have my father there to help instill my hunting values, but not everyone has that luxury. Having commonsense & good morals can lead anyone in learning the right direction, in anything they want to do in their life.
