Larry Oppe’s 10-pointer

Bowhunter Larry Oppe of Edwards shot this Peoria County 10-point buck on Oct. 16. The buck field dressed 228 pounds.
Oppe had seen some rubs and decided to set a stand in the area nearby at about 2 p.m. that afternoon. A few hours later he killed this big buck, which may or may not have been one he had a chance at last season.
Oppe said the buck is a typical 8-pointer with two kickers, “one off of each G2 which are 13 and 14 inches long.” Inside spread is 21 and half with main beams that carry 5 inch mass almost all the way through. Oppe said the rack green scores 172 inches, gross.
