Big Bucks Corner

Isaiah Mack’s 14 Pointer

Isaiah Mack of Good Hope, Illinois, arrowed this McDonough County bruiser on November 7th 2010. This big boy was following a doe that was hot. About 10 minutes before he came out Isaiah had a nice 8 point he was going to shoot. But as he drew back on him Isaiah heard a grunt behind himself and slowly let his string down. I sat back down and waited another 15 minutes. The buck stood at the fence line for at least 5 minutes just staring in the field. He finally came out into the field. He slowly worked his way toward Isaiah’s stand. After shooting the buck, Isaiah said he was shaking so badly, he almost fell out of his stand, but he was wearing a safety harness anyway. After waiting for a buddy to arrive, Isaiah found the buck about 60 yards away along a draw. The awesome thing about this hunt was the fact that it was Isaiah’s first year hunting, my first deer, and it was with a bow! He was only 15 when he shot it.
