Brandon Wegs

Here’s an account of Brandon Wegs’ hunt for this nice buck.

“This is the first buck I have taken in five years. I have passed on deer as big as him in the past and had passed on this deer twice the morning I got him.

“I put up a 16 foot ladder stand in the dark the morning of the kill. It just seemed meant to be, he was chasing a doe and they ran by three different times with shot opportunities at 20 and 30 yards.

“Finally she led him right under me at 5 yards so I took the shot and hit him good. He crashed through a treetop and stood still for a while then he would walk a little then stand. That went on for about 15 minuets until I lost sight of him.

“I thought I might have only got one lung so we decided to wait a few hours to look for him. We took out around noon and found little blood but we still found him only 100 yards from my stand. When we found him his whole side had been eaten down to the bone meat, hide, and hair were all eaten in a matter of hours.

“I will attach a picture of it because we though it might have been bobcats judging by the way the ate on the deer. Aside from my deer getting gnawed on it was a very fun and exciting day because I got to share it with my Father and good friends.”
