Big Bucks Corner

A shotgun buck still in velvet

Sun, November 21, 2010

Freak buck 1

All we have to go on for this one is an e-mail that says it was killed near Vandalia, likely by the young man in the orange vest on Nov. 21.

This is one of two things: 1. An antlered doe or, 2. Most likely a stag buck.

Both, very often, not only don’t shed their velvet and antlers,  they never stop growing them. The bases on this deer are absolutely huge, pointing towards these horns having grown for many years. They rarely get really big antlers.

If anyone knows this lucky hunter, please let us know!
