Besides good fishing, another thing I enjoy about the fall season is the changing of colors. I look forward to it every year and last week was no exception. The colors had peaked just in time. Luckily, they are now falling and blowing off of trees. Just as I had departed for a few days.
As you may have read in my previous posting, the fishing last week was very bad. However, the beautiful landscapes, the wildlife, and all of the brightly colored trees I encountered along the way made up for it.
When I’m up north, whether it’s en route to the lakes or in my boat, I have a camera on me at all times. Most of the time it’s my simple 7.0 mp point and shoot rugged and waterproof Olympus. But when the situation really calls for it, I use something else.
Late last summer I inherited my dad’s Canon Rebel EOS DSLR. A 12 megapixel camera. He doesn’t like to lug it around so I’ve got the green light to use it and bring it with me whenever I want (weather permitting, of course). I don’t know much about lenses, but know that they run expensive at $200-300 a pop, and sometimes several hundreds of dollars more. I use what I’ve got and am content with it. The lens I have on it right now is a 28-135mm Ultrasonic. Good for everything else but long distances. Along with it I have a few different filters that enhance colors and contrasts.
Thanks to this camera I’ve gotten into outdoor and fishing photography quite a bit. There’s a lot I’d still like to learn about it especially with lenses and shooting the best photos that can be possibly shot. Correct me if I’m wrong, but now 3D cameras are available and that’s an entirely new can of worms for me.
While on my latest adventure I took a serious load of photos. Sunsets, scenic views, fall foliage, close-ups of fish, action shots . . . . You name it.
I had nowhere else to showcase these images, but here is a pictorial with captions provided. About 400 different photos were taken last week. One out of every ten seemed to be good to great. I’m not a photographer but I think they have ratios like that too!
If I didn’t have a responsibility to put Jake and myself on fish last week, I think I would have done a lot of driving around and exploring the backwoods of Wisconsin, looking for good vantage points and images.
This is what I have. I think some of you will really enjoy these.
