ERO’s objectives are:

ERO will also be represented in the day’s fishing competition as their fishing team of two disabled Vietnam & two disabled Iraq veterans go for the gold and try to reel in the day’s big fish!

Hamilton Area Troops Support (HATS) of Hamilton, Illinois will be sponsoring the tournament fish fry. Proceeds from the fish fry will be going to benefit a scholarship for the young 20 month old son of Dustin Whitaker, 27, of Hamilton, Illinois who died April 1st in Keokuk in a motorcycle accident. Dustin was a staff sergeant in the Iowa Army National Guard and a Purple Heart recipient. He served in Operation Iraqi Freedom 2004-2005, and Operation Enduring Freedom, 2010-2011. “His son Dylan was the most important thing in his life, he loved teaching him new things and watching him grow. While in Afghanistan, Dustin carried a picture of Dylan with him everywhere he went and counted down the days until he could make it back home to his boy. Dustin left behind an unforgettable legacy and countless memories that will be shared with his son in the years to come.” A strong contingent of friends and family of Dustin & Dylan will also be fishing in the tournament as a way to celebrate Dustin’s life. Deborah Whitaker, Dustin’s mother and HATS Director, anticipates 10-20 boats will be “Fishing for Dustin & Dylan.”

Even if you’re not putting a line in the water, c’mon out and enjoy yourself and help out these great local organizations that are making a difference in the lives of our country’s veterans. The public’s support of their endeavors will be GREATLY appreciated!
