just came back last night from Keck’s marsh in vandallia last night
the estamates of 400,000 snows ,blues and specks are an understatement. each am we seen an unGogly number of birds at daylight. it was co;d but 2 groups managed 60+ birds in 2 days. gotta go back :cheese:

I need a little advice from the waterfowlers on HO.  My dad shot his 1st and 2nd speck in the last goose hunt of the year this year on 1/31/12 (using my gun!).  The 2nd speck ended up being banded and came back as a 12 year old goose banded in Alaska!  We took the goose to a very respected taxidermist this weekend and he said the speck is his favorite bird to mount because of its beauty.  My dad asked the taxidermist for his advice on what position to mount the bird, and for some weird reason the taxidermist strongly suggested exposing the back of the speck in the flying position on the wall?  I think it is a no-brainer to expose the breast and bars on this speck.  Its totally up to my dad, but i dont want him to regret the choice when he gets it back.  What do the waterfowl pros think on HO?

Im no pro, But without a doubt show the breast..Id have it mounted wings locked,Floating in:)AWESOME BIRD!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is exactly what i thought freak, locked, floating, just like it was when the bird was finally harvested after getting lucky for 11 hunting seasons of its life.  Ive seen a few mounts where, the bird is locked and its head is turned to the side, looking down just like you see a goose do when they are hovering over top of the spread while you call at em.

Heard of at least one group of hunters near Havana killing 300+ snows during a recent hunt. There are lots of birds in Mason County and still lots up here in Peoria/Fulton/Knox counties.

Big flocks just flew over the house this morning. They seem to like it here near Elmwood, Farmington and Canton. Kids are amazed to see all the birds. Middle son said, “How come there are never this many geese flying when we go hunting?” Good question boy.

seen what had to have been tens of thousands at route 78 and I-74 today about 1pm on my way to work.  really is amazing seeing those numbers work over a field.

I’m not a goose/duck hunter, but boy have the geese been flying over my house lately.  Saw tons of them late afternoon yesterday while burning some old fence posts and stuff.  One of these days I have to go goose/duck hunting.  Looks like it would be a blast and something to break up a deer season.

treehugger if i remember correctly you are near maquon.  just let me know as we hunt about 1 mile west of there.
