Here I am (on 10/17), with an expired boat registration of 6/30 and found out the DNR doesn’t send out expiration notices anymore. So for the past 4 months, I’ve been in Wisconsin and lucky that a LEO hasn’t slapped me with a nasty fine.

I renewed on line as soon as I found out about the expiration.  Some how the fee went up from $27/ three years to $50 (17 1/2’ boat), with an additional $4 convenience fee thrown in.  My State Rep will get an ear full, but I was wondering why there isn’t anything on this site about it. (My search process stinks).  I have a little 12’ that will not be renewed next year.  Better get some oars fitted.

WI charges $32/ three years, so I will register it in WI next time.  I fish for muskies in Spring lake a couple times a year and can’t even use my big motor due to HP restrictions.  The rest of the time the boat stays in WI..  I could save on convenience fees by mailing renewal as long as I can keep track of expiration dates.  I wonder if WI has enough money in their budget to notify people to renew?
