With the temperatures being so warm, has anyone seen any rut activity or any daylight activity?

Couple of weeks ago I was getting pictures of a variety of bucks, last week nothing. I am hoping it is because of the warm temps and not something else.

I have yet to see any deer at all, other than on trailcams, showing themselves every few days.  I don’t know if its because the field I hunt near still has not been pulled or if the DNR was too aggressive during their winter cull here in Grundy County, IL.  Neighbors haven’t had much luck either.  Heck, could even be the warm temps yet.

Finally saw some deer. Seems really slow in my parts, but at least I saw some does and a couple of small bucks moving during day light. The small bucks were hopeful but the does were not interested, so I am sure they will be going good now that the time has changed and we will all be at work.

Bowhunting a small river bottom in Will Co. that produces for me every year. It borders a small, unincorporated neighborhood and I’m the only hunter in it (private property). It’s primarily a bedding area but during the rut it turns into a highway for deer to seek, chase, and lock down. Put in an all day sit yesterday and saw good deer movement from 6:30-8:00 and 4:00 to dark. Does were still with fawns and wanted no part of a couple young bucks wanting a piece of them. There are two mature bucks I’m after and they are still nocturnal and making fresh rubs and scrapes nightly. Seems to me they are staging and prepping for when the does pop, which should be any day now. Nice cool evening tonight getting down to the upper 30s along with tomorrow night so I will be in stand tomorrow morning and Saturday.
My buddy texted me this morning at 6:45 saying a big 10 was chasing a doe across a busy 4 lane road here (about 5 miles from me). Good luck everyone….it’s about to get really good in a lot of places. Get out while you can and try to get the big boys before they lock down.
