With the wind blowing like crazy, I thought about turning off the alarm and staying in bed this morning, but I am darn glad I didn’t. I took this nice gobbler at about 6:30am. I didn’t hear a single gobble (first time this year) today, although not sure I would have anyways with the wind. I struggled more than ever this year to get the gobblers fired up and to commit to my set up. Yesterday I had about a 5 second opportunity to take a nice gobbler at 40 yds, but I didn’t take the shot. The patience paid off with a chip shot of a 15 yd shot right in the decoys. This bird was consistent with others I have heard taken with a fairly low weight. 10.5 inch beard, 1 3/8 inch spurs, but only 21.5 lbs.
