Saturday was one of the best hunting experiences I have ever had, as I posted in the spring turkey forum, I shot one almost as big as the one you shot last year gbob. If I remember right, I might have been giving you a little crap for shooting a 30 pounder, sorry man! The one I shot Saturday was 29 pounds, so obviously I believe that you shot a 30 pounder, I had just never heard of one weighing that much before. When talking to a few guys, they believe a turkey that hasn’t got into the heavy breeding season could weigh more, similar to the way a rutting buck loses weight. The delayed breeding season (if that exists?) coupled with a mild winter, might be why my turkey weighed so much. It also had a lot of that jelly substance on the top of the breast bone that can add a few pounds as well.
