OK guys it looks like the first rut hit the majority of our state the hardest around Nov. 10-14th.  When do you think the second rut will hit for the does that did not get bred during the first rut?  Do you think there is any chance it will hit during the second gun season Dec. 5-8th???

Ditto never saw the first rut develop, only saw chasing twice.  I dont expect much, at least by me for a second rut.

My advice is if you can be in a tree the next couple weeks you better get there or you may miss what little activity is left.  There will be receptive does clear into January but the does that didn’t get bred the first time around should be coming back in for the next couple weeks. Just my opinion.

Last year it was the second gun season, no more deer than I have seen the last couple of weeks I couldn’t give you a good answer.

I HUNT IN NE PIKE COUNTY ON A LEASE. THE WEEKEND OF NOV 8-9 TO ME WAS THE RUT. I PERSONALLY SEEN 4-5 BUCKS FOLLOWING 2 DOES REAL CLOSE. A DOE STOPPED AND URINATED AND THE BUCK STOPPED FOR A GOOD MINUTE SMELLING THE SITE. DUMB ASS FOLLOWED THE OTHER DOE. THE NEXT BIG BUCK WAS RIGHT BEHIND THE DOE ON 3-4 TIMES I SEEN THEM IN A 20 MINUTE SPAN. THEY WOULDNT HOP THE FENCE UNFORTUNATLY. I ALSO SEEN SPIKES CHASING DOES. THEY RAN BY MY TREESTAND 2-3 TIMES IN 5 MINUTES/ 2 FRIENDS KILLED 2 NICE BUCKS AND I PASSED ON 2 SEPERATE BUCKS (TOO SMALL)  I KILLED A 135 ON SATURDAY OF GUN AND HE WAS FOLLOWING A DOE. BEHIND HIM WAS ANOTHER BUCK. I ALSO SEEN A BUCK TENDING A DOE .ONCE GOING INTO PROPERTY AND AGAIN THE THE PM. THEY WERE BEDDED DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CORN FIELD. SO THE RUT WAS DEFINATLY ON WHERE I WAS. I HOPE THE 2ND RUT WILL BE ON FOR 2ND GUN SEASON. I HAVE 1 TAG FOR SCHUYLER COUNTY . I HAVE CAMERA SHOTS OF 5 SHOOTERS .

I agree with the peak of chasing being Nov. 7-10 based on my cameras and encounters. My cameras show the best day was Nov. 10th and that was also the day I took a mature 10 pointer. I believe that they were pretty much all locked down by the weekend of the shotgun season. I heard to predict the 2nd rut you can go 3-4 weeks after peak chasing to give you a rough estimate. Last year I think it happenned a little later, though, as I experienced the best week of hunting all year from Christmas to New Year’s. The way the bucks were still harassing does instead of feeding with them I would have to say in my area, IMO, this was the 2nd rut last year. Best way to find out is just to stay out there and stay on them bc the window is much smaller the 2nd time around

Second rut? I saw no evidence of the first one.
