With the warm weather and occasional rains, when does everyone think the mushroom season will start? I think last year we started finding them at the end of April. I am just ready for that butter fried goodness.

Went Thursday afternoon to Site M (JESP) and nothing. Ground temp is 62 degrees at 4” deep according to the paper, the ground is plenty warm but it sure is dry. Walked for 2 1/2hrs. Got a 1 1/10 ” of rain Sunday should help big time. But the May Apples were not bloomed out, Lilacs are not blooming. MY Asparagus is growing big time though, cut close to 1 1/2 lbs already and having that with a rib-eye tonight. But when it’s growing here the schrooms should be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don’t know about anybody else, but for us mushroom season is not very good. Greenery is tall and there are hardly any mushrooms. What are you guys finding?

With about 7-8 Hrs. of walking I ended up with maybe 1 1/2 lbs. It is really dry!!!!!!! I am in Sangamon County but have not heard of anything good in Morgan or Cass either, half of what I found were dry but I was able to soak and save them. Most of my time was spent at Site M (JESP). I am in my mid 50’s and have been hunting Morels since I was a teen. I know age and eye sight don’t help much but this is one of the worst years I have ever had. Did fry them up Saturday night with a big mess of Blue Gill I caught Thursday and was I in hog heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
