Caught this walleye on a crankbait while fishing on Chippewa flowage last week.  Released it to fight another day

Whitetail, I’m not really a walleye fisherman, (Musky and Bass/Crappie guy), but lure wise, they seem to like Shad Raps #7-8 or Storm Thunderstick Jrs.  On the flowage (no trolling allowed), most of the folks I talk to use live bait like leeches on slip bobbers during summer/fall or minnows on jigs early spring.  Some folks also cast out a nighcrawler with only a split shot attached about a foot above the hook and work it in slowly.

Sauger seem to like bounced jig/minnow combos in deep water or trolled Thundersticks on Illinois river.  The 28"r followed my Thunderstick to the boat but woudn’t take it.  Came back the next day early on the same spot (gotta love GPS) and he/she hit on 3rd cast about 4 feet from boat in 12 feet of water.
