OK, I am just being nosey here, but what is Marc Anthony being accused of?  It appears he was basically kicked off the Illinois Whitetail Alliance committee for some reason.

ArcheryTalk already has three pages about Marc Anthony posted in their forum along with pics. Take a look at the pics posted and you decide.

According to a profile on bowhunting.net, Marc is on the pro staff for the following companies - Muzzy, Bear Archery, Polaris, Trophy Ridge, Bushrag and several other companies. He has written “expert” articles for NAW, Deer & Deer Hunting, Field & Stream, and others. He has blogged on Praire State Outdoors, Heartland Outdoors, & Bowhunting.net as the resident big buck expert. He wrote a couple chapters in Don Higgins book, “Real World Whitetail Icons”.  He also has his own site nontypicalhunter.com which he blogs his advice and gives field testing reviews on outdoor products. He has also traveled the midwest giving seminars on hunting trophy deer from the ground.

In addition to all his reported Illinois bow kills, Dr Anthony traveled to Owen Co. Kentucky in Sept 2009 and reportedly bow killed a 6x6 from the ground that green gross scored 182.

Thanks Todd, pretty sad.  We obviously shouldn’t run the guy through the ringer based on pics.  Marc seemed like a decent guy.  When I first started coming to this site, I commented on one of his stories that I harvested my first bow buck.  Marc then asked me to send him a pic so he could post it for me.  It was just a small 8, but he took the time to post it.  Sad deal, if its true.

Marc has always been a great guy to talk to and I hope this is a one-time mistake.  There’s no question it’s the same deer but I hope that with all the sponsor’s, seminars…ect he just had too much pressure and took a shortcut this one time.

Yea, there is little doubt it is the same deer.  The best thing Marc could do is admit he screwed up and succumbed to the pressure as you mention jcurri.  Either way, his credibility is shot.  If he would take the time and effort to use his taxidermy skills to cut the skull cap and rack off a buck he killed and insert this very impressive rack, there is no telling what other unethical and illegal ways he has harvested previous trophies.  All driven by CASH MONEY to sell more products and prove how effective his signature ghillie suit is.

Maybe someone could post the pics in question from the archerytalk site to Jeff’s recent update.

He bought a set of 190 inch antlers, colored them up…..cut the skull cap out of a freshly killed deer….put the skull cap from the set he bought in the place of the fresh deer…..and took some pictures claiming he killed it.  He checked it in as a deer he harvested, and even took it to the IL deer classic.  Allegedly…........

When looking at pictures of other deer he has posted, many suspicious elements have been noted by several individuals.  Strange coloring of antlers, front legs cut off of deer for field photos, positioning himself in photos to block the animals own body, never holding the animal up by the rack, skull caps not aligned with the rest of the skull, field photos of nothing but the head and neck sticking out of the weeds, field photos with the entire body of a freshly killed deer is blocked by a tree.

Gives hunters a bad name.  And gives taxidermists a black eye as well…...

Only one picture wasn’t suspicious.  He sits in front of almost every deer and holds them like he’s hiding something.  The 190 class 12 appears to have a distinct cut line where it was capped if you zoom in.  Funny how you don’t see those things when you believe in a guy

I agree Andy. His harvest photos are the most unreal pics ive ever seen. In all of them they look like shoulder mounts.

Whether the accusations are true or false; this is just another black eye within our hunting community.  What really stinks are the folks that thought Marc was the real deal (as most of us thought).  For example, Don Higgins just released a book that has chapters written by Marc.  What a nightmare for Don.
