With seasons starting to change its time to start down sizing your baits and pulling or jigging them just a little faster. The fish are going to start to get a little more aggressive with the cooler water temps. They are going to start to feed more because they know winter is coming. Start to check some of the spots you found fish in the spring because most fish go back the same migration route they took in spring to get back to their wintering holes.
This is the time of year when fishing can really be outstanding if you put in a little time to find and follow fish. Its a great time to be out on the water cooler temps less bugs (less jets ski’s speed boats etc.) clean crisp fresh air and plenty of fish. Enjoy the season and boat some fish.

That sounds very interesting!  Gotta be some big bass in there too!  All jokes aside, but do you think a top water bait made to look like a small rat would be worth a try?

I think a top water that looks like a Rat or mouse has to be fished on top of Slop. I would pitch it close to shore in heavy trash, eddies holding trash or heavy weed that it will lay on top of. Pop it with a little wrist action across the tops of trash or weeds with a pretty tight line and watch for blow ups from underneath.  If it does get hit stay ready when you get to the outer edge of the trash pop it a little harder so it jumps up and out to open water (a lot of times that’s when the strike comes when a bass thinks its jumping into the water and may get away or taken by another fish. Let me know how it works.
