Has anyone renewed a foid card lately?  Been waiting on mine for around 40 days.  Called today and the recording says 60 days to process.  The website says it should take 30.  Backlog must be pretty extensive…

Just got mine back about a month ago…Took around 35 days if I recall correctly…

I did send in a money order as per instructions from my FIL…He is retired police and very active in sale and trade and makes a great point on sending MO vs personal check…He said the MO’s get handled immediatly vs PC’s have to clear first…

Yeah there’s never much delay on the check clearing. My card took 49 days to arrive last year, another guy’s only took 12 days.I guess it just depends on where it ends up in the pile…

I’m approaching ~23 days wait right now.  I’ll start to panic in October.

I had to renew my FOID card and coincidentally, after i submitted the renewal, i read an article, either on H.O. or Illinois Game and Fish about how terrible the FOID card system is right now.  It had specific statistics about the totals, for ex: the number of FOID cards that take over 6 months for renewal and also the total number that are lost in the system and the owner never recieved recertification.  I was getting nervous because i was starting a trap shooting league this spring and my card was expired.  My plan, good or bad, was to keep the copy of the check along with a copy of the article with me in case i got checked.  Luckily the new card showed up about 1 week before i needed to start the trap league.  I believe it was about 45 days.

I was up to 55 days and getting pretty frustrated with opening of dove and goose coming up and not having a current card.  I ended up emailing my state senator and representative who I was impressed with how quickly they responded to me.  Within a week I had my new card.  Coincidence? Possibly but doubtful.  It’s just an idea of something you can try and may work.

Three CPO’s told me my card is valid for up to one year after it expires, however, you can not purchase ammunition. My check cleared on August 20 and my card arrived last Saturday Sept. 15.
