I tried an elk call for coyotes and they went nuts. I killed one at 5 feet and had five other within 30 yards. Anyone else use an animal call not native to Illinois?

what type of elk call were you using?  a bugle, cow, young?  Very interesting! I can’t imagine killing a song dog at 5 feet!!!

If it runs, flies, or drives, I’m interested!

Young elk. The coyote scared the crap out of me. I was sitting against a tree on the edge of a creek and he came out of the creek directly in front of me.

For sure going to have to give that a try.  I have always used jack rabbit destress with good success.

I’m hunting yotes this afternoon…if I can get out of my office early enough.  I brought my 22/250 bolt action and my AR-15 to work.  Which should I use?  I know the 22/250 is a great coyote rifle, but boy am I tempted to use the AR for the fun-factor.

I’ve never shot an AR but they look like a blast.  Good luck!
