We have a Red Fox hanging out back.  Cought it a couple of weeks ago and now I saw it yesterday just sunning by the pond! LOL!  I think it was over at our place as the neighbor was cutting the alfalfa.  Thinking it may be the one I caught last year that was gathering voles in the field after it was cut. smile

We had a red fox a few years ago that was almost tame.  It would walk to within a few feet of you.  Really neat animals

The folks across the road used to have a pair that they fed by hand!

They make me nervous…especially with chickens…LOL!  But I’ll take them over coyotes for now.

We still have pretty good numbers here, I just love seeing/watching them. I always thought about trying to get one with my bow to have mounted but I just don’t think I have the heart to do it now. Another reason to shoot yotes though, I bet I see at least once every 2 years a fox running like mad then a few minutes later along comes a coyote or 2 hot on his trail. I don’t care if it ruins my hunt but I try and yell or do something to hopefully throw them off.

I was watching a hunting show last fall where the celebrity hunter whacked a yote with his bow and turned to the camera and said, “I have no problem potentially ruining my best stand if a yote comes by.”  I ain’t much on them celebrity hunters, but that dude earned some respect from me.  We think alike wink

In the past several years, only time I’ve seen a red fox is when it’s close to a human dwelling. There’s a pair running around Condits Ranch just north of Henry, they’re pretty relaxed around humans too.Of course,I’ve also have spotted coyotes on several different times running down the streets/yards in Peoria.
What about grey foxes, have any of you folks spotted any of those lately? I have only spotted two in my life time.

Now that is something I haven’t seen in over 30+ years. Caught one trapping in my late teens and was probably in my teens when I last seen one.

There is several pair of fox that live in Henry.  I live in the area and see fox on a regular basis.  I have not seen a grey fox since I lived in Iowa as a kid.

I see at least two a year inside the city limits of Bloomington. I see them all the time outside of town but then again I do live by the mackinaw river. Two months ago I saw one of the biggest coyote’s in the middle of Bloomington not far from ISU’s Ewing Castle in the back yard of a house I was trimming out.
