How is everyone’s luck so far shed hunting?  I went out yesterday and had the best shed hunting trip to date.  Found 4 sides total.  Now I can’t wait to get back out and hopefully find the other sides so i have a matched set.

Found 3 Saturday and 5 yesterday to put me at 13 for the year.  Slow start but finally got some time to get out.  Found 7 dead in the last 2 days.  2 bucks and 5 does. I’ve never seen so many dead deer.  Seems like everywhere I go there’s 2 or 3 and sometimes a few more.

Mossy, I went 2 weeks ago and nothing…Im hoping to get out this weekend and hit it hard…Good luck on the bone guys!!!

I’ll post one tonight when I get home.  Only found 1 yesterday. I also found 6 dead deer.

How many dead deer have you found in the last 6 months Andy?

What do you think the cause of all these dead deer are?  EHD, shotgun hunters?

47 total that I’ve wrote down.  Finding a couple each time out. Sometimes more

I’d have to guess less than 25% are from hunters and vehicles.  Most of the bucks still have traces of velvet or more.  You can tell most are from before season.  The bones have a yellowish tent on alot of them and no sign of flesh.  Finding several with the old sun dried hide still partially attached.  Most are within 30-40 yards of water or in it.  Bout 3/4 of them have been does. 

I would assume that since the statewide harvest was around 180,00 that there should be around 60,000 dead deer laying out there somewhere since a 66 percent recovery rate on deer shot is pretty good. I know there are some guys out there that have hunted for 50 years and shot 200 and never lost one, but all in all, I think those are pretty accurate numbers.

Not sure yellowstone about that.  I’m going by my time in the woods over the last several years.  I’ve never seen numbers like this year.  Not even close!  I walk alot of non huntable areas and its been bad!  That’s about all I can say on a public blog if you know what I mean.  I’ve scraped up 17 sheds so far this year but I’m about 10-12 behind the last few years and most of them are still attached to a head right now in a bone pile.  I found the buck I called Heart attack yesterday!  Damn shame! 

Even worse somebody stole it off my truck last night!  All I have is a couple pics!  Bad day!

Yea that sucks that someone has the nerve to steal the rack. Its amazing how pathetic some people are.  Sorry, I am no help posting a pic from a phone, I am still in the flip phone, no Internet on the phone club.

Sorry to hear about the stolen rack.  I’m guessing it must have been a magnum to go through that trouble.  Maybe the suspect will get caught eventually being you have photos taken showing proof it was yours if you were to get the picture floating around.
