Has anyone been able to check the status of their spring turkey permit yet? Or know if they got one? Every time I try to check it says that my application does not exist. I didn’t know if anyone else had this problem or just me? I’ve already paid so it seems weird that there is no record at all ??

If I were guessing, I would bet your trying to check the status of a fall turkey permit instead of a spring permit, causing it to say your app doesn’t exist?  When I looked, the spring permit inquiry didn’t even have a link yet, but the fall inquiry did.  The 1st lottery deadline was December 1st, but I don’t think they have actually drawn yet.  Why, I have no idea?  I am sure they conduct this drawing on a set date every year, or maybe they are farther behind trying to concoct B.S./ignorant lies of responses to the concerned deer hunters of this state?  Better enjoy turkey hunting while it lasts.  I am sure they will try making up for the fewer deer permits this state is about to sell in future seasons by unlimiting the turkey tags allowed to purchase, while probably making hens legal to kill in the spring as well?  Whoops, I guess me being a pessimist in regards to the DNR came out again, my bad.

Like cchunter said 2014 spring link isn’t up yet.  I was trying to check if I need to reapply for my landowners permit - I think you have to reapply every five years - I usually get it in Oct. or Nov. (which is then usually misplaced or thrown out by April) but I don’t recall geting one this year.

I just copy and pasted the link to see if it would work. The sooner I can find out the better so I can arrange my work schedule for April.

I have been keeping an eye on it, I think the 2nd drawing is jan. 14 so I would assume we will know before then? I tried getting a hold of the DNR as well with no luck. I will try and let you know when the link is up.

The following is an email I received from the DNR today, stating how they screwed up yet another thing.  Does this sound like a ploy to get more permit applications and sales?  Typical DNR B.S.

The results for the first lottery for 2014 Spring Wild Turkey Permits will not be available before the deadline for the second lottery application on January 13.  We are advising you that if you are in the first lottery and want a chance in the second lottery, please go ahead and apply before the second lottery deadline.

If you are successful in the spring turkey first lottery, and thus become ineligible for the second lottery, the IDNR will move your second lottery application to the third lottery. We apologize for this change from past spring turkey lottery procedures, and wish you luck in the lotteries and in the Spring Wild Turkey season.

The following notice was added to the Spring Turkey Webpage, and the Permit Status Webpage.

Notice to Spring Wild Turkey Permit First Lottery Applicants:
The IDNR Spring Wild Turkey Permit Application online inquiry system web link will be available on Jan. 24.  Hunters who applied in the first lottery and are interested in applying for multiple permits may submit applications prior to the second lottery application deadline on Jan. 13.  Hunters applying in the first and second lotteries who receive a permit through the first lottery drawing will have their later permit application automatically moved to the third lottery.

Notice to Property Only Hunting Spring Wild Turkey Permit Holders:
Property Only Hunting Spring Wild Turkey Permit holders will be receiving their permit(s) or recertification application forms within the next three weeks from the IDNR.  Hunters who receive Property Only Hunting Permits must wait to apply for additional permits beginning with the third lottery.

And, they’re making a whole lot of extra work for themselves.  You can change your application, so when the one I put in for the 2nd lottery most likely gets bumped to the 3rd, I’ll be putting in for a change, and someone will be working to make mine and a lot of others happen.

DNR site said enquiry system would be available today.  I checked and still nothing.  Kind of hard to make plans not knowing if you get tags or not.

If you copy the above link and paste it into your browser, it works, they just dont have the link going yet.  I got my results, and got my first choice and so did my dad.  Very pumped that we get to hunt together and I get to try calling a longbeard in for him.

Or i guess you can just click on the link i posted, that takes you straight to the inquiry.  You would think the DNR would have this linked up immediately if a dork like me can figure it out.

Does anyone know when the list of available permits by county will be available?  I hope soon so I can decide for a second and third permit!  Thanks.

You are giving them too much credit. I was finally able to get into the system and check my status last night also.
