They suck.  Neighbor being nice mowed some paths along the edge of his fields so people in the community can have more places to go for jogs and walks.  Last week was the first time it was mowed and I was running on it a couple hours later.  Well a couple days later, the itching started.  Nobody else was on the trail for another day or two and nobody else got chiggers.  Lucky me, worst chigger attack ever for me.  I should know better.  Every time I have gotten them in the past, it was always right after a wild grassy area was mowed for the first time.  Oh well.  This is just a warning.  They are out there.

Matt- I get them every year and go bonkers with the itching. Call your doctor and ask him/her about a steriod pack (prednisone etc…) I think you take 6 tablets, then 5, then 4 etc… It is the only thing I have found that helps. Relief in a day!!!! Otherwise you are going to be one grumpy guy for the next 2 weeks! I still have scars from last year! GOOD LUCK!

This batch actually doesn’t itch that bad.  I hardly notice them.  I am surprised and lucky this time.

ive been in the woods all my life, im 68yrs old. this year is the first time (and hope the last) that i got chiggers. not sure how i got them, but man they itch. also, one walk in the woods about a month ago i picked off 16 ticks from my shirt. got home and found 2 more stuck to my belly and leg. next day after i put on my walking shoes, felt another one crawling up my let. bad year for bugs!
