I ran across these while checking game cameras.  Does anyone know what these are?  And are they edible?  I’ve never seen these growing on my property before.

Puffballs are edible - but they have to be very very fresh. Any sign of yellowing or - even the slightest color change on the interior and they are past prime and not so great. The outer “rind” needs to be intact, and the center snow white for them to be very tasty. By the looks of at least the one - it’s likely past prime eating stage. Remember where you found them though - you’ll likely find them there again next year, or may find some fresher ones yet this year smile

Thanks for the feedback.  There were 6 all within 20feet diameter.  Do they taste like other fall shrooms like hen of woods or honkies (aka elephant ears)?

Hard to describe how they taste - I think kind of like scallops? Found a pile of them going in to the duck blind Saturday!
