I found this while bow hunting last week.  It was a rather sizeable rock 6-8lbs? with a ring wore in the middle of it.  My boot is in the lower part of the picture for a comparison.  There have been arrowheads and ax heads found in the immediate area.  There was a small strip recently dug out which i believe exposed this rock…...not sure if it is something or not, had a hard time finding anything like it online.  Thanks for any help!

That could make a anchor.

I tossed that thing in a field years ago…Please don’t let my wife know you found it 87.  She used to chain me up to that rock so I wouldn’t go out hunting.  Bury it so she (and everyone else’s wife) can’t find it.

I think VS hit right on it, I guy I work with found something that looked just like that on his property and it turned out to be an anchor that indians used in their canoes. Contact the Il State Museum, bet someone there could tell you what it is.

Very crude. Could be a hammerstone or an axe preform? Is it polished anywhere on it? Axes are usually polished around the bit/blade area.

Thai is definitely an artifact and a fantastic find. Judging by the boot in the picture it appears to be of good size, possibly used as a hoe or some other tool. Excellent find!!!
