It’s really disheartening to see what the IDNR is doing to the deer herd of Illinois.  They removed only one county from the late season antlerless deer season….. UNBELIEVABLE!  I think the DNR needs to keep raising money in order to help the extremely high number of welfare recipients in the state.

Not surprising at all, but good lord, one could only hope the mismanagement would eventually stop or at least slow down.  What source do you see that they removed one county and no other changes?

Not a shocker.  I think we all expected it.  The kill mongers will be happy.

This states DNR is laughable . If I were them I would hide my head in the sand. I swear if they do not cancel the LWS I will quit deer hunting in the miserable state for good!. I will not help them kill anymore deer. I know I am just one man but at least I will be able to sleep at night . Oh and to all the insurance morons that have their hand in the DNR jar, good job and sleep well knowing you ruined a great resource in the land of Lincoln. Oh also take the white tailed deer off as the state animal!.

I think the info they have up there now doesn’t reflect any of the changes that they may or may not make for the 2014 season.  The season dates will remain the same, unless they move the shotgun opener.  The LWS seasons will be the same as always, but they haven’t announced what counties will be removed yet.  Greene Co. was removed last year.  So, YES, they will have LWS seasons.  But not necessarily in the same counties you see on that map.

We won’t know that info for a while yet from what Tom Micetich tells us.

The shotgun opener will not be moved because the date is printed on the shotgun permit applications and it would cost the state money in order to change the date after applications have been sent..  My shotgun permit application has been sent in already…  The map is last years map, I just noticed that..  I hope that they do eliminate more counties, but money talks in this state.

People want this, and they want that, and if people don’t get just what they want then they throw a fit. Some of you want changes made in the seasons, some want seasons removed, and some want this, or that restriction in place, really ??? Some of you are the same people that complained for expansion of the seasons not long ago, and some of you are nothing but horn hunters, and some of you people wish to kill everything that moves, and a good majority of you people have no idea what your talking about most of the time. You all act like deer hunting is the only activity, and resource the DNR should manage. Many also have no respect for other sportsmen afield as well, and this is the part that makes my blood boil. We had a lot of deer living in marginal areas for some time, and now many of you people have become a custom to hunting these marginal areas. These were the first deer to disappear when management practices were put into place, and now many of a hunter are upset, really ??? What did you expect the herd size to stay the same, be real folks. Maybe if more(And I am not saying everyone) would go afield more often, and not just in the fall before deer season, and look at the larger picture that is taking place within your hunting area, and assess everything as a whole on what is happening to your habitat, then maybe you will better understand what is really going on. Yes I know the DNR has problems, but they are not all at fault with what has been done to our deer herd. I had one bow hunter tell me he shoot 17 does one year, and yes all were legally tagged with permits he bought. This guy needed the snot beat out of him for doing that, and I told him as such, and he felt he was helping the deer herd he told me, idiot. Many of the outfitter choose to not allow any other activities to take place on certain properties for fear of spooking the deer, thus no predator management is able to take place on these locations. This creates nothing but a breeding grounds for predators. CRP= Coyote Reproduction Program. If you think a bow hunter tossing arrows, or a few slug hunters knocking down a few select predators each season is predator control, then your living in a fantasy world, and have no idea what true predator control really is. Just remember many of you made this mess, so don’t be surprised why your stepping in crap now…................................RTT
