Ted Nugent posted a link to the Keth Warren show on Facebook. This show is on you tube and has several biologists and Whietail deer experts including Dr. James Kroll telling the truth about CWD. It is a “political disease”, hyped for the most part to scare us. There are several different agendas behind the scare, but the truth is, CWD is no real threat to our deer herd. EHD is a huge threat to our deer herd, but, it is swept under the rug for the most part. I encourage those concerned about our deer herd to watch the show. It’s nice to be informed and educated if you are the kind of person who likes to talk deer.

Yellowstone,
The very fact that Ted Nugent, and Keith Warren both have high fenced operations in Texas, and I am sure Dr. Kroll advises many other high fence deer farms, just makes we wonder if they are not speaking out more about CWD because of the relationship the disease has had with farm raised deer. Are they really worried about deer, or their pocket books, I don’t know. I also agree that many steps taken in regards to CWD I feel have been just feel good efforts, or efforts made to create a perceived illusion that something was really done to lessen the spread of CWD, once again I just don’t know. I will say I’m not surprised to see such allocations about CWD come forth, because it seems no matter what comes up with wildlife anymore it all turns political, and I wonder if the new wildlife biologist of today need to minor in political science while in college. I’m sure some do.

There were several other biologists and scientists on the show RTT. If you have Facebook, go to Uncle Teds page and read his post about it. He basically sums up everything in the video. Deer farms in no way spread CWD, nor does it start there. One deer farm in Colorado had a problem years ago, which got this started. CWD isn’t killing deer, the government is killing deer using CWD as an excuse to slaughter deer by the thousands in areas where a few cases are confirmed. They have no scientific evidence to show CWD is even a threat to the herd, yet they don’t hesitate to slaughter herds of deer and ruin hunting for people in those areas for years to come.

I was surprised to find out that sheep were pastured with the mule deer in Colorado, that was the first I have ever heard about any sheep in the mix. I would like to point out that sheep and goats have been upon thousands of acres of ranch land in Texas for several decades before the discovery of CWD. I am sure elk, mule deer, and whitetail deer have come into contact with sheep herds upon millions of acres of range land out west long before 1967, so for them to point a finger at sheep in Colorado as the cause of exposure is a little far fetched I feel.

Look I feel many of the actions taken were knee jerk reactions by some within the DNR’s that felt they needed to silence the media outcry, and show some action creating a perception of actually doing something, when in fact the DNR’s were still in the learning stages themselves. Nobody wants to hear from and agency full of professionals that we don’t understand what’s going on, but that was happening, and the media feeds upon that type of story. Nobody in any DNR wants the media to think their professionals have a creditability issues, because it just opens a whole Pandora’s box of problems.

Yes there is always someone looking to make money off the bad news of others, and many agency’s, and people within them, or working upon the fringes seen an opportunity to turn this into a cash cow. Should we be surprised?? I think not. This happen in almost every aspect in life of today, and it is sad to say the least, but we should not be surprised. The big question I have is how farm raised deer come under the control of any DNR ? If they are farm raised then that should come under Dept. of Ag, and if so watch out when it comes to disease control, because they do have some agency powers that will surprise people. Could the DNR be gathering samples for testing, and maybe even the euthanasia, but under the authority of the dept. of Ag. ?? I understand that is not the case with the wild herd, but could they be taking advise form another completely different agency’s ? An agency that has a completely different understanding, and techniques in controlling diseases ? Many questions yet that I don’t have answers for.

I had the pleasure of meeting Keith Warren a long time ago while fishing upon the Texas gulf coast. He was very polite, and treated me with nothing but respect. Listed below are some of Mr. Warrens accomplishments, and I feel he may be many things in life, but a hack is not one of them.

Keith is a Texas native who grew up in Dallas. As a young child he began hunting and fishing with his family. For almost 3 decades, he has worked tirelessly to help motivate more Americans enjoy the great outdoors. “When people are connected to nature, they make better choices,” says Warren. “People in the 21st century need to become better connected to nature and realize that we all share a responsibility to take care of our precious natural resources.”

Keith Warren was the recipient of countless awards. Here is a list of some of them. The 2003 Bass Pro Shops “Pass It On Award,” more than 3 dozen regional and national Awards from the Texas Outdoor Writers Association and the Outdoor Writers Association of America for Excellence in video production, the 1st place award from OWAA in 2003. He received more awards from the Texas Outdoor Writers Association than all other programs combined. Keith was nominated in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 for Outdoor Channel’s Golden Moose Award in the “Fan Favorite” hunting and fishing categories. He was selected Best Show Host in 2007 and 2009 for Sportsman’s Channel. He has received over a dozen coveted Telly Awards. In addition, Keith was the recipient of the Hal Swiggett Award, which recognizes excellence in outdoor journalism and outstanding service to the sport of fair chase hunting.

Have you ever hunted at a high fence operation?
