Riverrat… I did not know what the rule was, because I knew you couldn’t sell the meat but wasn’t sure about having to give it to the landowner as payment to hunt. But when you are on a 2 or 3 wooded acre lot, shoot multiple deer for the landowner, shoot multiple deer to give away.  Just a lot of deer to shoot in a small area… hence shooting anything that walks under the stand. Just gathering info.

Oooooh, you’ve got one of those guys on your hands.  That’s not good.  Go in at noon and rub a bar of Zest or Irish Spring soap all over his location for 40 yds or so.  Should help a little.  Don’t get caught

Glad to see this site still up, thought it was dead.  Well as a NR hunting Shawnee for last 16 years, I have to say the numbers are definitely down. Now the weather was a little warm till last couple days there, but saw very few deer. My son and I only harvested a nice 7 pt 219 lbs, which I stuck at 15 yds. Here is the thing couldn’t understand, could find no acorns or even the acorn caps. None on the trees over a very large area?  Very little deer sign, only found the scrap where I arrowed the buck. All bucks we saw were young spikes, only 4 does in 9 days, only 5 bucks in 9 days. But will I go back, by all means, because I love “the hunt”, love camping in the woods, love Illinois!
