After a 2 hour heated talk, Some are starting to think the program is fueling the fire to fill as many tags as possible. Curious on everyones thoughts on H.O. If you want to help stamp out hunger buy some pork or beef and donate it. Why kill a whitetail and not utilize the rewards yourself???

I donate to food drives as well as to my inlaws church’s food pantry.  Non perishable foods go much further than deer meat that has to be frozen and or refrigerated.  If you don’t eat it, don’t shoot it.  Obama will take care of hungry people, not our deer herd.

If you’re killing deer and just dumping them off there it should be “killers for hunger” because you’re not a sportsman, you’re a killer.

If you really want to help the hungry at least pay the $50 processing fee instead of having our allegedly broke state pay for it.  Put your money where your mouth is.  Its just a dumping ground for the killers that could care less about truly helping out the needy.

Ending a good program will not keep people from filling multiple tags.  Nothing wrong with donating a deer: some people don’t like the taste of venison, some are just good people, and yet others look at it as a way to give back. I have not participated in the program myself, however know a few older guys that have donated a deer.  They enjoy the sport and no longer want a freezer full of venison.

Maybe they should just buy a camera or take up checkers

Good people that just want to give back can not kill something they’re not going to eat.  That’s giving back.  If you don’t like the taste of deer then why kill one?

Glad someone finally said it. I agree with you guys all the way on this. If your not gonna eat it don’t kill it.

I have never known anyone personally who donated to that program for any other reason other than it gave them an excuse to shoot multiple deer. That’s always the reason behind it. That program is a big problem and needs to be eliminated.

I thought so but wasn’t sure.

Heading down to pull my stands today and take a little walk to check things out.  Hoping to see some deer.  Been seeing a group of seven on my way to work in the afternoon this week.  Hoping they’re all carrying fawns.
