I haven’t seen a deer all season so I’m thinking it’d be silly to shoot one of the few now.

Not participating . Only did once and that was the first year it was offered. I think I will go sit and wait for a coyote / coy wolf to show and shoot. The coyotes around here are huge and numerous.

Haven’t seen a doe all year.  Taken two bucks; one bow one Muzzleloader so I’m done for year.  Time to clear some timber for my farmer bud.

Never have.  Not even sure exactly when it is or what counties.

Not a chance I’ll hunt the LWS.  I’m with KNOX, kill the coyotes.  Thinking about learning how to trap.

Unfortunately my property encompasses 2 counties, one was taken out this year while the other is still open to LWS.  The one that is open will be hunted by the neighbors.  One would think by the lack of shots heard during 1st, 2nd and muzzle season you might want to leave the ones that made it alone.  It is their right to hunt, but I do wish them some lousy hunting weather!  This is where the DNR
should be stepping in - Their DVA model is wrong - neither county should have been in LWS last year and both should be out this year.

Why is a dead doe killed in jan more dead than one killed in oct, nov or dec? Same as a dead buck is a dead buck whatever his age.

Nothing, but for me its just too many seasons to kill that doe.

Does that mean if I shoot whatever I personally want for the season, then I have the right to want the season closed, because I don’t want to hunt anymore?

I could turn that around and say if I didn’t get to harvest what I want by Jan 18 or whatever, do I get the right to hunt more?  Actually you get to hunt per DNR rules, which this year means two more doe seasons in a lot of counties.  In my opinion the DVA model does not mirror what has happened in the county I hunt.  If my neighbor chooses to hunt and shoot a doe, he has that right and if it should land up on my property, like it did last year - he has my permission to retrieve it.  I myself choose to sit this one out.

Too many seasons   Too many permits

LWS is just senseless slaughter of deer by people who don’t care about the deer herd   How many days do you need to kill a deer with a gun?

Joecarver, I think the problem most of us have with the late winter season is that it lets the “killers” do even more damage. I dont have a problem with a guy using the late season to harvest a doe that he hadn’t been able to get during the first few gun seasons. It’s the guys who buy 10 tags for all seasons and feel the need to kill another deer just because there is a season open and the state sold them a tag that need to be shutdown.

so i guess your 4 months of bow hunting is the only “ethical” season?  I personally take about 3 days to take my 2 deer.  but that is always the late season because I can not access the land I hunt until the “true hunters”  are done and they have killed everything they see with bone on top of its head.  You people that only want to do away with gun seasons are hilarious to me.

I’m going to take advantage of the nice weather coming in and hit the woods with my bow for the last time this season.  Need to get my trail cams out of the woods and perhaps trim some limbs that caused me problems during the season.  Its been too cold to do much else the past couple weeks and I’m getting stir crazy.
