Then our IDNR (ILLINOIS DEER NOT RESPECTED) should create a system like a lottery for NR hunters to make it a privilege to hunt here.

2nd season numbers are out… up 6,200 from last year.  That makes total gun harvest up 2,200 from 2013.

Kevin, none of those deer were killed in my neck of the woods.

That’s just a little hard to believe since Friday was a wash out.  I don’t know a single person who even hunted.  And I know a lot of people!!!!

That’s better than I thought it was gonna be.  So much for Voluntary Restraint.  The bad news is there’s still muzzleloader season this coming weekend.

There was a lot of shooting around me. I call them hail Mary shots bang, bang , bang 2 second pause bang , bang. Fast re loaders. This sucks!. Now the big heads in Springfield will get even bigger heads and puffier chests. See we have no deer problem, reopen those counties we closed to late winter season. Print more tags. Recount Quinn’s ballots. New slogan (come to Illinois and killdeer and we don’t mean the bird wink , wink….

I can remember back in the late 1980’s I began my deer hunting up in Wisconsin.  Back then you were only allowed to shoot one Buck and that was it.  I could fondly remember seeing multiple does pass by me in my treestand and having does bed down around my stand in hope of a buck coming around the does or smelling their trail.  It seemed to work back then and nobody really bitched and moaned about it too much.  How about Illinois going to a Buck only tag concept for firearm season and one ES tag for bow hunting?  Two tags period per hunter and if you are a NR hunter, you get one Buck Only tag Bow or Firearm season (pick one)...

Just my thoughts…  I am sure the NR hunters do help some communities financially (hotels, restaurants, taverns, grocercy stores, etc.).They are not 100% EVIL and CRUEL.

I dont believe their numbers someone is lying . This is the least amount of shooting i have ever heard ,ive talked to dozens of hunters who always kill deer and nobody shot anything . These new numbers are a lie a bunch of lying hypocrit crooks trying to save their jobs . Anyone who believes these new numbers has got to be stoned . I dont trust these idiots and noone else should either .

I getting a feeling from those that have been posting would be upset no matter what actions that were taken, and it would not matter whom implemented them !!!!  With all the problems our state faces I am sure the deer herd is not top on the list for any legislator, and as upsetting as that may seem to many upon this site it is the truth.  Many of you also better start thinking how any changes may effect others afield, because if you don’t think other groups are not going to chime in, then you are about to be surprised people. Other groups have the right to time afield just like everyone else, and changes in season dates, or increasing the length of certain seasons, or any changes that may effect other groups at all should be considered. It’s not all about Deer Hunting folks, and I hope everyone realizes that. We all share the resources of this great state, and I am sick of certain groups within Illinois pushing an agenda of only focusing upon their own interest, and never considering sportsmen/women as a whole…........RTT

I agree RTT, we need to give some consideration to the quail hunters when we make our decisions.

Rtt , i dont thiink anyone on here has said anything like to hell with everyone else . We are worried about the deer herd and fixing the problem we all have created . The whitetail alliance is trying to give DEER hunters a voice just like these other groups have .cutting tags , shortening seasons for deer wont have an impact on quail, pheasant, rabbit or duck hunting will it? Us as deer hunters also have a right to chime in and im sick of other groups putting the deer herd behind their agenda . Its about time deer hunters come together and if it gets others panties in a bunch i personally dont care . What the hell does this have to do with quail hunters anyway ?

I’m all for other types of hunting.  I quit hunting rabbits and pheasants just because there’s not very many left around where I hunt.  I wish theyd shut pheasant hunting off for 4 or 5 years to be honest.  That and more restrictions on pesticides and fertilizers as well as bringing back fence rows and hedge rows.  The quail are all but gone around here.  No way I’d ever shoot one again.  Turkeys are just dumb so that leaves me with deer and squirrels.  Too poor to duck hunt   Never did find a snipe.

Not all deer hunters are evil RTT.  Probably only a few in reality.  I myself am not affiliated with any “groups” but I do appreciate the effort.
