I have not seen a deer in 4 days of hunting. I have hunted from dawn till dusk. It’s like they have a secret underground bunker they go to. It must be this stupid full moon. They must feed and frolic all night and hit the underground hangout just before dawn. smile. I know they are around I had 3 mature bucks in 45 minutes between 40 and 60 yards of me last week. Then poof !!! gone.

Hunting Will County on a small, private, 14 acre river bottom. I am hunting this property in the mornings as it has always produced great rutting activity during this time, and me harvesting my two biggest bucks to date during the morning. The past couple days I have seen very minimal rutting activity as I had two mature does with their three fawns bedded underneath me for a good part of the morning. If the mature does were in estrus, no way would the faws be with them, let alone them just bedded alone underneath me. I am seeing daytime bucks but they are mostly younger deer, 1.5-3.5 years old and they are just milling around the woods. I was at full draw yesterday morning on a 140” 10pt but let him walk as I know when the rut really picks up, bigger boys will be in there.
Still seeing a lot of fresh scrapes being tended, along with new and freshened up rubs so the bucks here are still prepping. I have consistently seen and killed my biggest bucks here during the beginning of the third week of November. I know a lot of you are thinking the bucks are locked down at that time but that is when I have witnessed the best chasing and biggest bucks out, the ones that have never even been on my trail cams.
Even though the weather has been excellent here, I am only seeing the young guys right now and no chasing. But of course that doesn’t mean I will not be in the woods, in a tree right now…I love this time of year. Good luck everyone and I’ll keep you all posted.

I am also hunting knox county. Not seeing much as well. Trail can pics are being taken from around midnight right up to 6 am. Been seeing fresh scraps and rubs in the past 3 days.

I never did have much luck seeing anything during a full moon and it hasn’t really been all that cool. I will tell you something though, with the cold front coming in and even if there is not going to be hardly any snow but some light flurries on Tuesday. Be in the stand Tues. morning if you can. And with it really cooling down the week deer activity will pick up this week.

I’ve hunted the past three mornings with chasing going on primarily before daylight. I get in my stand 30 minutes prior to start of sun up and there has always been chasing going on, but before shooting light. Once the sun starts coming up it seems the chasing just stops and all I see are young bucks and does milling around. Had a nice shooter come in this morning but I didn’t notice him until he was 20 yards to my side because of the leaves being so quiet now due to the rain yesterday. But once again, this was before shooting light and he was just cruising, not chasing. Having to work this afternoon, about a mile from where I am hunting I see a buck bedded down tending a doe in a cut corn field. So I see chasing very early in the morning but then a lockdown buck…gotta get it done soon!

Just had a nice 3 year old 8 pointer in our side yard at 1:05 in the afternoon.  He was cruisin with his mouth open.  I live in town in a neighborhood so things have really heated up.
