10 point went 242 putting him around 297 on the hoof.  Took 5 guys to get him out of the woods.

BHD,  Obviously congrats are in order!  How about a few pics to get everyone pumped up.  What part of the state did you get him in?  Give us a little more of the story…ie. did you call him in, was he chasing a doe yet, was he checking scapes???

Marshall county, Central Illinois.  I’ve been really busy and this was my 2nd time in the woods this year.  Coyote ran under me at about 4:50pm today.  Picked up my bow to see if I could get a shot at him but he disappeared in thick brush.  Heard another noise coming from the same direction but instead of a coyote it was this very heavy/nice buck heading directly toward me.  When he was about 5 yds away I finally stopped him with a loud “grunt”.  I was aiming for the spine and got him between the shoulder blades.  Thought he would drop immediately but he just ran about 20 yrds and stood there.  I could clearly see the arrow and it was dead center.  I was able to get off another arrow but my bow limb hung up on my bow holder and shot over him.  (Buck Fever), That seemed to spook him a bit and he sort of jumped and took off downhill.

Then the reason for coyote and buck running under my stand became clear.  An ATV from another property came by and evidently pushed them over to me.

Waited about an hour and 1/2 and found him about 100 yds near a creek.  I called a buddy to help me haul him out but even with a deer hauler we coudn’t get him 10 feet going uphill.  Called for more support and 3 people pulling and 1 pushing we managed to get to level ground.  He was in the rut big time.  Neck swollen, stinky.

Took it to Robin Rocke and may have to special order a form to fit his chubby 28” neck.

Robin did all the measuring.  He said his largest form he had was 25-26”....at least in the shoulder form I wanted.  May have to go to a different form if it doesn’t hang/fit right.  He flattened out the hide and used his tape measure… 28” on the nose.
