Hope everyone has a safe and wonderful holiday season! I am looking for a grunt call that is realistic sounding and works in cold conditions. I have currently the Mad hyper growl deer call. I don’t like the sounds and in the cold weather it either doesn’t work or it sounds like the reed does something funny. If I put my hand on the ventilator it works sort of but then is a 2 handed call and still doesn’t sound right. I don’t want to spend a fortune and if its at Bass Pro that would be even better (have a gift card) but not necessary. If anyone has a suggestion of a realistic sounding call let me know. Thank you!!!!

I’ve used the Flextone Buck collector since it came out and it’s one of the best I’ve owned.  I also use the Primos buck roar during the rut.  Not a big fan of Mad calls.  Seems like if you blow just a little too hard it really distorts the sound

I really like the buck roar as well. It has a snort wheeze tube right on top of the grunt. Also, comes with a strap that goes around your bicep so you can turn your head into your shoulder and have a hands free call. Andy- I also like flextone calls. I have the extinguisher, I believe, and it can be set from fawn to doe bleat from young buck to mature buck grunt. Pretty sweet all in one call. I used the buck roar to call in a nice 3.5 year old 10 pointer, P&Y deer, early this November. He was out cruising and the roar pulled him from a couple hundred yards out, so the sound definitely carries well

Yea I think Flextone is making some good calls.  I have two other calls made by them and both sound very good.

Definitely going to be looking into those. One question why do you need two buck calls one for normal and the rut?

Thanks for the replies.

I also use the Buck Roar with the grunt snort wheez tube on the top.  It did freeze up duirng the second gun season.  I just put it in my coat and that keeps it warm enough until I need it.  Good sound and will bring bucks in from a distance.

The Flextone is my main one but the Primos buck roar sounds better at longer range.  It has more of a deep guttural sound much like an old mature buck. The rut is the only time I use it

I do not use calls much, but my favorite grunt call is the Flextone Buck Collector.
