Are they posted somewhere?..I heard that they would be released today, but haven’t heard or seen any…A friend was in contact with DNR and via an email said they were down over 20%..

Dnr website posted them about 20 min after I commented.  About 23% down from my calculations.

I went out opening morning and saw nothing, didn’t hear a shot until an hour after legal shooting. Unheard of in my area near Jubilee Park in Peoria Co. Sat out the rest of the season based on the lack of sightings during my archery hunting. My season is probably done, don’t have the desire to thin the herd further. First year in a long time that I will not have venison to eat. Sad state the DNR has put our deer herd in. Regardless of what the DNR decides to do about this it is we as hunters who have to change our habits to get a recovery going. If you don’t like what you have seen this year do not shoot any more does, if you are blessed enough to still have plenty by all means take what you can eat personally. I know of several people I know that shoot a doe and then start calling around to see if anyone wants it. That needs to stop IMHO.

opening day =gun season I saw 17 deer before 7:30 Friday morn . Wind [I thought] was killing deer from coming from the east, my favorite direction where I hunt in Knox co.. At approx. 9am, the buck I killed came up wind at me and I was lucky to kill him, running at 55 yds. He was 4.5 year old 227 before field dressing him, 185 after. He has a perfect 10 pt.  rack.
I saw 3 different bucks chasing does, rut was going strong.

See the last full paragraph in the pic found in the November issue of Illinois game and fish magazine. These so called “experts” had high hopes for a record breaking harvest rate.  They must have been the same experts that were basing their opinions on zero in the field observations. Needless to say, this experts statement couldn’t have been any worse. Instead of record breaking harvest it’s the complete opposite with the worst harvest numbers for what, the last decade!!  Illinois is in serious need of handing the reings over to a different set of experts!! They wouldn’t have to go far to find experts that can contribute in a positive way, IA!!!!

I couldn’t get the pic to upload, the paragraph said experts expect record harvest numbers for gun seasons. At least they were close, not!!!!
