im sorry to say im now apart of the list of folks that has fallen from a deer stand. it happened to me this past sunday night at 4:00 in mason county. I was hunting with the mrs, just sitting still when the strap on top just gave way and dumped me 18 feet to the ground. I was not wearing a harness obviously, and will never leave the ground without 1 again. I was able to get up with help and walk to the truck. im not looking for anyone to point out my mistakes or anything, but rather just put out a reminder for you all to check your gear. I was extremely lucky, and I know it. I don’t want to see this happen to anyone else. fyi we had just hung this stand a month prior. it had not been sitting in the woods for any length of time.

Glad your ok! I know I need to do a better job with wearing a harness. See PSO for a story that will really wake you up. The guy fell last weekend and had to make the decision to pull himself off ventilator.

Would be really interested to hear more details. Did you examine the strap and see why it failed? What did you do after this happened? Why didn’t you get hurt etc
